Soundhouse and Music for All Announce new parternship with the Martin Carlson Foundation

Soundhouse Music Alliance and Music for All are pleased to announce a new partnership with the Martin Carlson Foundation which brings music making to the Gippsland region to those in need of assistance and further develops technology for the broader disabled community.

The first project sees Music for All partner with the Martin Carlson Foundation in a $10,000 grant for the provision of instruments to a support program for the South Gippsland Region via Trade Skills Alliance providing musical instruments and Scholarships to disadvantaged students within the South Gippsland area.

Gary Brittle and Darren Polglaise commented that on behalf of the Martin Carlson Foundation “we are excited about our new partnership with Sound House Music Alliance and Music For All”.

A second project sees the Martin Carlson Foundation making a grant of $5,000 Soundhouse Music Alliance and Music for All towards the further development of the Special Access Kit.

Since 1992, and the invention of the original Soundhouse Special Access Kits (SAK), SMA and Music For All, as a registered charity, have supported the use of technology in the work of music therapists and teachers in a broad range of settings and global locations. This work has continued over the last few years with significant developments in technology offering new possibilities and functional frameworks to support the creation and enjoyment of music for those with a disability.

Music For All has engaged the services of a prodigious young music technologist to develop resources for use with an iPad application called Koala to achieve the therapeutic aims originally envisaged with the invention of the SAK kit.

“The next phase of development includes a desire to build on this important work to optimize its take up and effectiveness. In addition we are conscious of the need to optimize the usage of existing Banana Keyboards, but also look to the future with respect to what other devices and technologies can be incorporated to best provide engaging and effective music programs in the future for those with a disability so they too can experience the joy, and receive the benefits of music creation” said Adrian Alexander, Soundhouse Director and co-developer of the Banana Keyboard.
